Shri Datta Bavani – English Translation
O compassionate Lord Datta,
You alone sustain the entire universe. (1)
Born through Sage Atri and Anusuya’s devotion,
You incarnated for the welfare of the world. (2)
You are the combined form of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva,
And the protector of all who surrender. (3)
You dwell within as divine consciousness,
And appear outwardly as the Guru in human form. (4)
With Annapurna’s bowl by your side,
You carry the vessel of peace in your hands. (5)
Sometimes with six arms, sometimes four,
And sometimes infinite—you are boundless. (6)
An innocent child comes to your feet,
O Digambara, uplift his life. (7)
Hearing the sincere call of devotion,
You manifest and bless your devotees. (8)
You grant prosperity and spiritual powers,
And ultimately the highest liberation. (9)
Why do you delay, O Lord?
I have no support except you. (10)
You accepted humble offerings with love,
And uplifted devotees with compassion. (11–12)
You destroyed illusion and protected righteousness,
Your divine plays are endless and indescribable. (13–14)
You bless seekers with children, life, and fulfillment,
And guide even the greatest sages. (15–16)
Your grace is infinite,
Why not hear my humble call? (17)
Come swiftly, O Infinite One,
Protect your devotee from suffering. (18)
Moved by devotion, you even become one with your भक्त,
Such is your divine love. (19)
You uplift even the simplest souls,
Your compassion knows no bounds. (20)
You remove suffering and uplift lives,
Granting strength and protection. (21–22)
You revive the lifeless and fulfill desires,
Turning despair into hope. (23–24)
You cure diseases and remove poverty,
Granting abundance and blessings. (25–26)
Pleased by simple devotion,
You reward with immense grace. (27)
You revive life, remove fear,
And protect from unseen forces. (28–29)
You protect all beings beyond caste and status,
Showing equality and divine justice. (30)
You grant divine visions to true devotees,
And manifest in many forms at once. (31–32)
You bless devotees with direct experience,
And remove ego and pride. (33–34)
Taking forms of Rama and Krishna,
You perform divine leelas. (35)
You uplift all—humans, animals, and even sinners,
All are equal before you. (36)
Your name alone liberates,
Simple remembrance leads to salvation. (37–39)
All negative forces disappear,
Through devotion and prayer. (40–41)
Those who chant with love,
Receive blessings in this life and beyond. (42–43)
Success follows them,
And suffering disappears. (44)
Regular devotion brings immense grace,
And protects from fear of death. (45–46)
Though you appear in many forms,
You are ultimately One. (47–48)
Salutations again and again,
Even the Vedas arise from you. (49)
Even the great Shesha cannot describe you fully,
How can I, a mere human? (50)
Yet, hearing a devotee’s heartfelt words,
You smile and bless them. (51)
You are the Supreme Truth—Tat Tvam Asi,
Glory to Shri Gurudev! (52)
